Week 7 co-MVPs: Ian Boylan, Swans Gmunden and Robert Hite, Galatasaray
The last ULEB Cup regular season games of 2007 featured a lot of good individual performances resulting in co-MVPs for Week 7. Ian Boylan of Allianz Swans Gmunden and Robert Hite of Galatasaray Cafe Crown will share the weekly honor after each posted a performance index rating of 35, higher than any other players in 27 games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Boylan helped Gmunden beat Benetton Olympic Fribourg with 20 points on 8-for-12 two-pointers and 4-for-4 free throws. He added 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals, a block and 3 fouls drawn to amass a 35 index. Meanwhile, Hite helped Galatasaray thrash Hanzevast Capitals with 24 points on 5-for-7 two-pointers and 3-for-6 triples. He added 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals, a block and 6 fouls drawn for his 35 index. Those two had a lot of challengers, too. Shammond Williams of Pamesa Valencia helped his team edge SLUC Nancy with 26 points on 6-for-8 three-pointers, 3 rebounds and 11 assists, good for a 34 index. Marc Gasol of Akasvayu Girona, Travis Hansen of Dynamo Moscow and Ricardo Greer of Nancy, each with a 33 index, completed the top individual performances of the week.
Individual highs: Rawle Marshall, 29 points
Rawle Marshall of Hemofarm Stada was the Week 7 top scorer with 29 points in his team's home win against Akasvayu. Michael Wright of Turk Telekom stays as the competition's top overall scorer at 22.9 points per game. Graham Brown of Ovarense Aerosoles led all rebounders by pulling down 13 against BK Ventspils. Tariq Kirksay leads the overall standings at 9.9 boards per night. Willie Deane of Lukoil Academic dished as many as 13 assists in his team's road win against the Artland Dragons. Deane also leads the overall assists board at 7.5 per game. Lionel Chalmers of Benetton Tamoil Treviso, Horace Jenkins of Beghelli Bologna and Lamayne Wilson of Asvel Basket each collected 6 steals. Brandon Gay of the Antwerp Giants remains the steals leader with 3.14 per game. Virgil Carutasu of Unics Kazan and Edu Hernandez-Sonseca of DKV Joventut each had 4 blocks this week. Ken Johnson stays atop the blocks board at 3.86 per game. As many as 11 players had double-double this week. Two of them came from Turk Telekom, Erwin Dudley - 15 points, 11 rebounds - and Chris Williams - 14 points, 11 rebounds.
