Turkish club Fenerbache have reportedly moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was thought to have set his sights on Alonso after ruling himself out of the race to sign Aston Villa´s Gareth Barry.
Alonso had been set for a move to Juventus this summer but the Old Lady are thought to have backed out after deciding Liverpool were asking for too much for the Spanish international.
Spain´s European Championship winning coach Luis Aragones is now manager of Fenerbache and it is thought the Turkish club have met Liverpool´s asking price.
It is now thought Wenger has already turned his attention to Real Madrid midfielder Ruben de la Red after conceding defeat in his pursuit of both Alonso and Barry.
