City beat United for £8million teenage Turkish striker?

Manchester City are set to flex their financial muscle to beat neighbours United for the signature of Sercan Yildirim, according to The Times.

Earlier this season Sir Alex Ferguson was said to be closing on a deal for the 18-year-old Turkish striker, who admitted he was keen on a move to Old Trafford.

“Manchester United have contacted my family and the president of the club,” he was quoted as saying in October. “When a club with their reputation is interested in you, you have to take notice.”

However, reports now suggest mega-rich City are set to steal ahead of their great rivals to take the signature of the £8million-rated Yildirim, who scored 11 goals in 30 games for Bursaspor this season.
